Naomi’s fostering journey

“I think I’m one of the luckiest people in the UK, as I ended up with Maz and George coming into my life when I was 7. They looked after me and my two brothers when we were younger. They had such a positive impact on my life I only wish I could have stayed with them rather than being placed back with my mum. I was lucky enough that they stayed in touch whilst the transition going back home happened and long after.
Unfortunately, I ended up back in the care of the system. When Maz and George found out they tried to get me back, but due to circumstance I wasn’t able to. However, as soon as I left the children’s home and was making my own choices, I took the chance to move back in with them just before my 18th birthday.
Having the support of two loving parental figures helped massively both times I lived with them. They helped with my confidence, discipline and generally taught me how to be a good human being. I owe them massively for being and staying in my life in the way that they have. Without them I really don’t think I’d still be in the world as I struggle with anxiety and depression with my PTSD. So, I would like to thank them again for being the strong, resilient, yet loving people that they are.”
