Sarah, Graham, and Nasratu’s fostering journey

Care-experienced young person, Nasratu:
“The reasons why I have kept in touch over the years because firstly, Sarah and Graham were the most lovely, caring and compassionate people I first met in a country where I knew no one. They were so kind and taught me most of things I needed to know. The main important thing was ‘family-bound’. I never felt left out in the White house family. I felt love and cared for even though I was worried that, as a child, I couldn’t get that.
Secondly, it created a friendship bond and I’m always happy to talk to them and update each other about our lives. They are the best people I have ever met and I am so thankful to God for meeting them.
Having completed my degree in Media Studies, I had a hard time finding a job, but needed money, so I have been working as a Nursery Teaching Assistant for the past 2 years and hosting events like weddings and birthday parties in my spare time. My dream now is to become a Social Worker. Victoria (my Social worker) inspired me so much.”
Foster Carers Sarah (and Graham), shared:
“We love keeping in touch with Nas. She is very warm and loving and she makes us laugh! We are really proud of the way she has achieved a good degree at Uni and is being a blessing in her work with children at the moment.
Nas is planning to re-sit her English GCSE this year so she can start training as a Social Worker. Regular encouragement is so important to help young people achieve their dreams.”
